WebDav setup in Ubuntu

Assuming apache2 is installed and running:

Create a WebDAV directory in your DocumentRoot with the proper permissions

mkdir -p /var/www/webdav
chown www-data /var/www/webdav

Add an entry in your /etc/apache2/http.conf file

<Directory /var/www/webdav/>
    AllowOverride All
    Dav on
</Directory>

Create symlinks to the proper DAV module files

cd /etc/apache2/mods-enabled
sudo ln -s ../mods-available/dav.load
sudo ln -s ../mods-available/dav_fs.conf
sudo ln -s ../mods-available/dav_fs.load

Create the proper .htaccess and .htpasswd files to protect /var/www/webdav

htpasswd -c username

Restart apache

sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
